Welcome to the All New Lacey Forza Bistro & Event Center, by: Rachel Young, co-owner
Five years ago, Christine and Tom Forrey had a vision. A vision to create a special place where people feel welcome, have opportunities to connect with one another, and experience a sense of belonging. A true labor of love, the Forrey’s invited the community not only into their business, but into their hearts. On February 1, they passed the torch to two local business owners: Rachel Young of Miss Moffett’s Mystical Cupcakes and Ryan Lindstrom of PugetSound2Go.
What was known and loved as Forrey’s Forza, Home of TC Pies, became Lacey Forza, Bistro and Event Center.
While many things have stayed the same, the new owners are looking to amplify and expand on the strong foundation built by the Forrey’s, bringing in a 5-star chef to streamline, reinvent and enhance the menu, and offering in-house catering services in the event center, which holds up to 100 people. They have already catered events for groups from JBLM, Soroptomist International and various events like bridal showers, birthdays and business gaterings.
The new owners have continued to promote Forza not only as a cozy, inviting coffeehouse, but also as a bistro with a full food menu plus beer and wine. There is even a new Happy Hour menu, with specials like $1.00 off beer and wine and additions such as bacon-wrapped dates and house-made baked artichoke dip. The Happy Hour menu is available Monday through Friday from 4-6pm.
They still offer the popular pies, quiche, cookies and sweet breads made in house, but have added Miss Moffett’s Mystical Cupcakes and French Macarons by Mel to the bakery menu.
Miss Moffett’s Mystical Cupcakes even moved all of its production to Lacey Forza. In fact, the kitchen size and potential for growth is what attracted Rachel Young to the popular new location. “Since I started Miss Moffett’s 5 years ago, I’ve had a vision of creating food that feeds the soul. Baked goods are infused with love, and awaken happy memories for many people,” says Young.
“But now I get the chance to explore other foods that nurture and comfort, like our new house-made soups, baked potatoes with ingredients like caramelized onions, bacon and bourbon jam, and watch art come to life with our detailed and inventive catering platters. This is truly a dream come true.”
Adding to the synergy of Lacey Forza and Miss Moffett’s is the potential for Build-Your-Own Cupcake Bars in the event center, which they used to offer at their downtown Olympia location, a much smaller space. The events can attract more than 100 people, so it’s perfect to have a place large enough to hold that many people. The first one hosted at Lacey Forza was a Valentine’s Day event in February, and another one was offered in late March for Easter. A Mother’s Day tea is in the works with cupcake decorating included in the event activities.
Besides the Build-Your-Own Cupcake Bars, Miss Moffett’s is hoping to eventually host community Cupcake Wars contests for kids and home bakers, as well as cupcake decorating classes. They currently offer birthday party cupcake decorating packages that can be hosted on-site by a “Cupcake Magician”, or taken to go for parties off-site.
Speaking of to-go, Lacey Forza has a drive-thru, which makes it even more convenient for people in a hurry. Pick up your espresso, lunch, and even cupcakes in one stop without having to get out of your car. Call ahead and we’ll have it ready!
