Why the name “Native New Yorker”?

By: Debbie O’Neill, Owner, Lacey Native New Yorker

The question we hear most often is “Why the name Native New Yorker?” The answer has nothing to do with the big city. We trace our roots to Buffalo, New York where owner Debbie O’Neill was born and raised and where Buffalo wings originated. After the Blizzard of ’77, Debbie’s family moved to Arizona leaving behind the snow and their beloved wings. In 1979 the family opened the first Native New Yorker and have been winning awards for their wings ever since. Debbie, together with her husband Tom and their two children moved to Olympia in 1995. They knew if there was one thing this area needed it was great wings. They opened the Lacey Native in September, 2011 to fill that need.

Our menu has something for everyone; hearty soups, delicious salads, Choice steaks, juicy burgers and plenty of sandwiches, wood fired pizza generously topped with the freshest ingredients; melt-in-your mouth pork ribs glazed with our award winning barbeque sauce; Friday fish fry with beer battered Haddock to name a few. Try our homemade lasagna, which weighs in at over a pound! It’s loaded with made-from-scratch meat sauce, whole milk ricotta and mozzarella cheeses.

Complete your meal with our authentic New York cheesecake, a slice of Key Lime pie, a warm Brownie Sundae with homemade salted caramel sauce, or NY’er Cookie Sundae. We’re proud of the fact that all of our desserts are made in house by our professionally trained chef and daughter Ashley.

Monday-Friday features $6.49 lunch specials and Happy Hour specials including $2.50 Wells, $2.50 Drafts and $3.50 House Wine. Micros and 22 oz beers are also on special with a selection of $4 appetizers.

We can’t write about Native without mentioning our wings. Buy them by the piece, order as many as you want and have ‘em dipped in any of our 14 sauces. Tuesdays and Thursdays our wings are just 39¢ each (dine-in with beverage purchase). That’s a deal you can’t pass up.

Tom, Debbie, Ashley and Chelsy together with our awesome team of staff members invite you to stop by for a visit. We look forward to serving you soon! 
